At the beginning of the year, the city allocated $150 million to cover the increase in wages that it expected to approve as a result of negotiations with the municipal labor unions.

(A) increase in wages that it expected to approve as a result of negotiations

(B) increased wages it expected to approve from negotiations

(C) increasing wages expected to be approved as a result of negotiating

(D) negotiated increases in wages it expected to approve

(E) increases expected to be approved in wages from negotiating

The OA here is A, but I chose B. What makes A correct and what makes B wrong?

In my opinion
B say that the city allocated the amont to cover for the "increased wages" which is illlogical , The allocated amount will cover up the only increase in wages not the full wages.
second, "from negotiation" is unidiomatic.

please correct me if I am wrong somewhere

really? i thought the questions from the 1000SC were compiled from both the OG 10 and the OG 11 because most of these questions can be found from these books.

Yes, OG10 and OG11 are copyrighted sources; that's why we don't answer questions from OG here anymore - GMAC has requested that we not host questions of theirs that they offer for sale (which is how OG is distributed - for sale in book form). 1000SC is not a GMAC publication - someone else compiled it by putting together a bunch of questions from lots of sources, OG among them.
