670 (Q45 V36)

by divudu.v Fri Jul 26, 2013 5:09 pm

Hi,

I took my GMAT for the third time today and scored 670. I am very disappointed by my Quant score. I panicked during my Quant section and screwed it up. These are scores for the three times I have taken

590 (Q47 V25)
620 (Q44 V31)
670 (Q45 V36)

I have 7 years of IT experience, good academic . Can anyone please suggest if my score is good enough to get into schools? (I live in Georgia and looking to get into Georgia Tech or Emory). Does low percentile in Math make my profile undesirable? Ana a 670 after 3 attempts is bad?

Thanks.

Hi there,

With a 670 you can certainly still have a shot at schools at that level, yes. For example, the average GMAT at GA Tech last year was 678, and the middle 80% range started at 620. So you aren't far off from that average. Sure another 30-50 points would really help, but at this level IF you have very solid other criteria in your profile, that GMAT could still work. So the focus instead will be your academics, what you did in your work experience, what you bring to the program that is unique, why you want the MBA, how you fit with the school, and other factors in your resume, essays, recommendations and interview.

Good luck to you!
