700 on GMAT- a useful tip

by arunj647 Mon Jul 14, 2014 1:53 am

Folks,
Gave my exam - 50Q and 34V, IR 6, AWA 6 (700)
(diagnostic prep: Q48 and V29 with 2 month prep time)

MGMAT SC material is amazing - I reviewed this 3-4 times.

One thing I wish I had known earlier - is to solve SC questions within a particular context. i.e picking one section and solving "a very large set of problems" under the same context and moving on to the next question if you cannot find a split under the same context. For ex. Modifiers.
Never try to master more than one context when learning.

MGMAT SC has last chapter that categorizes OG 13 and verbal review - but never seriously recommends this approach. Thankfully I found this from Ron's free videos on youtube when I grew quite suspicious on why my SC accuracy did not improve.

You need one month of preptime just for MGMATs 4-6 exams and recognize that you have a small slope with every exam. Keeping a journal of exam time thoughts/approaches and what worked didn't helped slowly increase the score.

Good luck.
