A Question About MIT's SDM Program - Systems Design and Mgmt

by MIT_Aspirant Sun Aug 10, 2008 3:33 pm

Hello,

Can you please offer any insights into MIT's SDM program?

http://sdm.mit.edu/

It is marketed as 'beyond a MBA'. I am looking to apply and would like to understand general feedback, positives, negatives, acceptance rates and such.

Thanks
Yash

MIT's SDM program is a MS degree. It is definitely not an MBA degree. If you already have an MBA and you want to explore the engineering side then go for it. Note that it is not a substitute for an MBA.

Hi,
I did my MBA at Sloan. I think you should look into recruiting options for SDM vs the MBA program. I'm not sure that the SDM students have the same opportunities in terms of employer presentations and job postings that the MBA students do.

As an SDM you can take some courses with the MBA students but SDM has its own curriculum. I think socially you will be pretty much fraternizing with SDM students.
