A revolution has taken place in medical science as a result

by rakeshd347 Sun May 05, 2013 12:33 am

A revolution has taken place in medical science
as a result of the introduction of new methods of
surgically implanting artificial and human
organs.
(A) the introduction of new methods of
surgically implanting artificial and human
organs
(B) the introduction of new surgical
implantation methods of human and
artificial organs
(C) the surgical introduction of new artificial
and human organ implantation methods
(D) the introduction of implantation methods
of new artificial and human organs
(E) the introduction of methods of surgically
implanting new artificial and human
organs

Hi everyone this question is from Kaplan SC workbook.
I Eliminated C D and E. But I couldn't find anything wrong with B so I chose B. I tried to ignore "surgically implanting artificial" because it sounds bit awkward. Can someone please help me understand this with a simpler example.
The correct answer is A.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately we can't give you any help on this question, because the question itself is flawed in a way that you won't see on the GMAT. Please understand that using practice questions from dubious sources can actually hurt your performance, and be careful which problem sources you use.

I would strongly advise against it. For SC, you should study ONLY official GMAT questions, and study grammar ONLY from our book. Anything else will likely mislead you. If you have finished all the official questions you can find, go back to them and make sure you can identify every issue and have a solid grammar reason to eliminate each wrong choice. (Remember, "wordy", "awkward", or anything that has to do with concision is NOT a grammar reason.) If you are 100% certain you can do this with 100% of the official questions, you are more than prepared for the GMAT and do not need to study anything else. If you are not at this point yet, you do not need to study anything else because you are not yet done with the official questions. :) Please note that it is not always necessary to reach this point; many students are totally prepared for SC on the GMAT with far less preparation.
