E omitted "it was", right? "while" and "but" are followed the sentence only, right?
I can not recognize immediately "proved" is a adj. or a verb with passive voice.

there is a clear contrast in the sentence & hence "while" cannot be used here.
A & B r out.
C - antecedant of "it" is not clear.
D - "proving"(present continuous tense) is incorrect here.
hence IMO E.
hi - please post a SOURCE for problems in this folder. we can't answer problems posted in the general verbal section without a source, and we'll eventually have to delete the threads featuring such problems (to ensure that we stay within the bounds of copyright laws).
thanks.

post my questions and keep the main stem but delete choices
Sorry BG, we can't even keep the main sentence posted without an author cited. As a work-around, you could write an original sentence that mimics the issue in question. Thanks for working with us on this!
