American English usage

by rahul Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:27 am

I will be soon giving my GMAT exam.
I will like to know that in the AWA section of GMAT, do u prefer American or British english.
Because spellings of many words are different in American versus British, so a correct British spelling of a word may be considered wrong, leading to a lower score.
Please clarify.

The multiple choice section definitely uses American English. On the essays, I would assume that British English spelling will be just fine, but I don't know for sure. I'll find out - but I would be incredibly surprised if the AWA didn't accept British English spelling. (In any event, if you know both, you could just go ahead and do the American version - but there's just no way they're going to mark people down for using perfectly correct British spelling!)
