Application Essay Length

Hi,

I am currently writing my grad school application essays. Most of the applications require answers to at least 3 essay questions. I am finding myself writing over 2 pages double spaced. Would you be able to tell me how long the essays should be, what the appropriate spacing is, and whether the actual question (along with the question #)should be written on the top of the page, on a cover page, etc. Any help you could offer would be great.

Don't the schools outline the word or page limits? If not, use your own judgment. As for formatting, it's also a school-specific thing, although the standard double-spaced, 12-point font is the default.

The page or word requirements for essays, spacing, etc. tend to vary dramatically from program to program. In all likelihood, the requirements should be listed within the application forms themselves. However, if they are not, you should just call the admissions office and ask them for the information.
