Are Canadians viewed as international applicants?

Hi there,

I'm wondering if Canadians are viewed as part of the international group of applicants or are we looped into the US/North American group?

In the latter case, is there a disadvantage of being a Canadian applicant since you're assessed alongside the largest group of applicants?

Hi there,

Yes applicants from Canada would be viewed as international applicants, primarily because visa/financing options would be different. But given the large number of Canadian applicants to schools in the US, I don't believe it gives you any sort of significant advantage. Nor is it a disadvantage from what I've seen, so I would expect pretty similar acceptance rates for US and Canadian students. Hope that makes sense!
