Can a pronoun refer to noun clause?

by sakshig614 Fri Aug 07, 2015 12:54 am

Hi

Please clarify following

Can a pronoun refer to noun clause.

Since a pronoun can modify phrase and I have read that noun clause can act as subject in some sentences, can the noun clause act as antecedent for a pronoun?

Also a pronoun can refer to nouns, pronouns or phrases and not to adjectives and verbs. But a phrase can have an adjective. So why does a pronoun refer to a phrase but not clause.

sorry, but i don't know the terms you're using.
please provide examples from GMAT-related material. thanks.

(this is crucial, because the gmat exam tests a VERY narrow selection of the potential problems with an english sentence. if you were to open a grammar book to some random point, that point would be extremely unlikely to be tested on this exam.)

incidentally—

• no, a pronoun can't stand for another pronoun.

• the only pronouns on the GMAT that don't have to stand for nouns are described here:
