Can "Though" be used to introduce a modifier

by bahuguna.priyank Tue Aug 28, 2012 1:17 am

Hi,

I had come across a question in the OG 13 where a phrase was introduced by "Though",since i am not allowed to post OG questions i have made an example of my own to illustrate my problem .

Eg:-

Though called a giant , Ravi weighs only 30 kgs .

In the above example though does not introduce a subordinate clause but it inroduces a "Verb-ed" modifier .

Please validate whether this type of construction is right .

I think your example is correct.

Though called a giant, Ravi weighs only 30 kgs.

In this example, what is called a giant MUST come after the COMMA.

"Though called a giant" is acting as a modifier, not sure whether it is called verb+ed modifier or not, but it is acting as a modifier.

thanks Willy! i think in general the GMAT would prefer a full clause in the "though" part though - though he is called a giant, Ravi weighs only 30kg..
