What is the value of (2^2)-2?

I understand that 1/16 = 0.0625 but is there any "quick" way to come up with this value rather than using long division?

take out the common factor (2^2)-2 = 2(2-1)

i think there was a typo..its actually (2^2) ^ -2 ....

Definitely! Look at the other answer choices.

C) .25 is 1/4
D) .125 is half of .25, or it must be 1/8
E) This is the only possible answer choice left, so you could pick it and move forward. You can also see that .0625 is half of .125, or 1/16
