Correct Idiom for "Privilege"

In the Sentence Correction Strategy Guide, why is the sentence "The academy gave senior cadets THE PRIVELEGE TO DANCE" wrong? The sentence is in the idioms list on page 162.

there is no reason. that's how idioms work; you just have to memorize what is correct usage and what isn't..
