Countable vs Uncountable noun

by chetan86 Tue Jul 02, 2013 6:11 am

Hi,

I want to know how we can identify whether particular noun is countable or uncountable? What is the trick to check it?

While reading MGMAT SC book I came across a paragraph on pg. 200 as below?

Some nouns in English are Countable. Examples include hat(s), feeling(s), and person/people. Other
nouns are Uncountable. Examples include patience, water, and furniture. If you are unsure as to whether
something is countable or not, perform the counting test:

Here word 'feeling(s)' is mentioned as countable so just confused whether we will say 'fewer feelings' or 'less feelings'?

there's no "trick". if you have context, you should be able to tell by using that context (together with common sense / normal everyday intuition).

i wrote about this here:
