CR: BACKGROUND INFO:

by Ineedhelp Sat Dec 08, 2012 11:03 am

Are there any signaling words for the background information on CR questions?

Can anyone provide an example how to spot the background by using key words?

Thanks!

Not really. The only thing that I can give you is that background information will almost always be a fact and a fact that would neither help nor hurt the conclusion. If you ask yourself, why is the conclusion true, the background information should sound irrelevant to supporting (or negating) the conclusion. It's just there to help us understand the terms of the argument.
