Not really. The only thing that I can give you is that background information will almost always be a fact and a fact that would neither help nor hurt the conclusion. If you ask yourself, why is the conclusion true, the background information should sound irrelevant to supporting (or negating) the conclusion. It's just there to help us understand the terms of the argument.
