Critical Reading Steps Question

by Risaralda Fri Jun 27, 2014 11:47 am

Hi everyone!

I'm just starting out with MGMAT. I have an incredibly silly question...

When we're thinking about the CR steps in order to analyze a passage, it says

Step 1. Identify the question

Does this mean that BEFORE reading the passage, I should be looking at what types of questions I will be answering? Or is this step to be followed AFTER I've read the passage?

Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you!

You should read the actual question (the thing ending with "?") first.

If you don't read the question first, you will have no goal when you read the actual passage!
The question is the thing that actually tells you what you're looking for in that giant wall of text. It gives you a focus.

If you absorb the question properly, you should actually be looking for something specific in the passage, rather than "just reading it".
