Dangling Participle

by NMencia09 Thu Mar 22, 2012 7:58 am

i found this question on a set of flash cards:

"Sarah's camera was lost while skiing to the base."

'while skiing to the base' is a Dangling Modifier.

correct sentence:
As she was skiing to the base, Sarah lost her camera.

*the first sentence seems correct to me.

can one of the gmat gurus please explain this one, and point me to where i can read more about this rule?

thanks in advance

Who said this was a dangling modifier? In my opinion, the "while skiing" very clearly modifies "camera". That of course is the problem! You can read more about this in the modifiers chapter of our SC strategy guide..
