Describing "Employers Activities" for large companies

by siobhan Sun Jan 03, 2010 4:39 pm

Hi - 2 questions really... and I am trying to submit my app tomorrow so prompt advice would be much appreciated!

Question One:

The bschool application I am filling out prompts for
1. Nature of Organization / Employers Activities
2. Primary Job Responsibilities

I work for Google, and for "Nature of Organization / Employers Activities" I planned on saying:

"Google's innovative search, advertising, and communication technologies connect millions of people around the world with information every day."

However, should I instead speak to the mission of my department within Google? I kind of mention that in my "Primary Job Responsibilities"

Question Two:

I am also struggling with how to describe internship experience I had 7 years ago. First, I can barely remember what I did. I had a 6 month internship at IBM in their Disk Storage department.

For "Nature of Organization / Employers Activities" for IBM can I just say:

Manufactures and sells computer hardware and software, offers infrastructure, hosting, and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology

And for Primary Job Responsibilities can I make it short and sweet? Something like:
Automated configuration and testing of IBM's enterprise disk storage solutions.

I mean - I really can't remember what I did, and today I am doing something so different that I feel like I am just supposed to show that I had a job during the summer.

Thanks so much for the help!
