Devastated ! GMAT 620 (Q48, V27)

by darkchild102 Wed Dec 02, 2009 12:18 am

Hi,

i just took the GMAT today and scored 620 (Q48, V27). I had a harder time with verbal though. To tell the truth, i hated the Verbal, period !!! Sometimes it's random bad luck for verbal in that you get long hard passages on subjects you cant care less about. I kinda got one of those, i guess.
My target applications deadlines are around mid-january and wont have time to retake exam. Would like to have your views on chances to enter a top EU B-school.
I have pretty good acads (Postgraduate University Degree in Telecommunications & Engineering in France), strong work experience (6+ years - France Telecom Group, Cisco Systems and Swisscom Group) and tremendous international exposure (North America, Europe and Africa) respectively as Head of VAS Division, Public Sector Manager for West and Central Africa and Presales Technical Consultant for Africa.
Would like to have your views on chances to enter INSEAD, HEC Paris, Cambridge, Oxford as 4 of the schools entered prior to taking the test. INSEAD would be a lil tough though, but if any chance according to you i would go for it.
thanks in advance

Hi and thank you for your inquiry. I'm sorry to hear about your score - it's a disappointing result if you were expecting something more and if your practice tests were coming in higher. It's not going to help your application, but from everything else you state it sounds like you have a lot of strengths that you offer the schools. I agree that INSEAD becomes the hardest for you now, but if you cannot re-take the exam, and are committed to applying this year, then apply, write the optional essay not making excuses for your low GMAT but simply acknowledging it and directing the Admissions Committee to evidence of your academic strengths.

Best of luck,
