by divineacclivity Sun Dec 23, 2012 6:02 am

Hi Ron,

Which of the following usages of ("did not" or "nor did") you'd prefer (GMAT perspective)?

Emma & Bela did not attend the chemistry class, and did not go to the canteen.

Emma & Bela did not attend the chemistry class, and did not go to the canteen either.

Emma & Bela did not attend the chemistry class, and they did not go to the canteen either.

Emma & Bela did not attend the chemistry class, nor did they go to the canteen.

Emma & Bela did not attend the chemistry class, and they did not go to the canteen.

thank you very much in advance

Sorry, you're going to have to do some work yourself on this one before we can help you. What didn't you understand about this one? What did you try? Where did you get stuck? Have you ever actually seen any of these distinctions tested on the GMAT?

I don't remember I saw a GMAT question asking to choose between the choices I wrote but I did see "nor did ..." somewhere on a GMAT question and I was wondering the different options and if one could be wrong etc.

what i was asking in my post was for you to tell us what your opinions are of each of your sentences (and an analysis of each would be even better). then we can confirm whether your thinking was correct or help guide you to a correct solution! :)
