Different 99th percentile scores

by lthompson05 Thu Mar 10, 2011 8:36 pm

I have scored in the 99th percentile of the verbal section of my last 4 MGMAT CAT tests, yet I have always scored a 45. I missed 6, 7, 7, and 4 questions on each test, respectively. Do I need to be getting every question correct to break above 45? On a previous test I correctly answered the last 14 questions, and on my most recent test, I correctly answered the last 20 questions, yet still got a 45. Is this indicative of the actual GMAT? Thanks!

i wouldn't worry about it. first, the score is pretty much meaningless and the more important number is the percentile. second, there is an algorithm that assigns your percentile based on the overall difficulty of questions you saw and how you answered them, so there is no set number of questions you need to answer correctly to get a certain score..
