Difficulty in retaining GMAT skills

by elisabetta.portioli Tue Oct 15, 2013 8:48 am

Hello,

I'd like to have some advices/suggestions from a GMAT expert on what I'm experiencing about my GMAT study process. I found out that when I focus particularly on a session, say, quant, and after that I resume the verbal part, say, CR, my performance in CR drops dramatically (ie: before quant, I did 60-70% correctly and on time while After that week in which I mainly practice quant, I did 30% correctly and ran out of time). The same repeats when I focus on verbal and abandon quant for a while. It seems as I cannot retain the skills in verbal or quant I've acquired till the point I switch to the other GMAT session. I'm very worried (and clueless) because my GMAT is scheduled in exactly one month.

Thanks a lot,

How long do you go without doing a topic? In general, it's not a good idea to spend an entire week only on quant or only on verbal - anyone would struggle. If you want to dive into Q or V, don't spend more than 1 or 2 days in a row on that topic. Then do some work in the other area. You need to be able to do both during the test, so you need to keep up your skills in both areas simultaneously.
