Do you get a higher score if you use less time?

by marc.brodeur Sun Nov 18, 2012 3:24 pm

Hi,

I just took a practice test that came with the OG on my computer. On the Verbal, I got 4 wrong out of the 41 questions, and it gave me a score of 46 out of a theoretical 60.

I'm looking at this, and even if I were to get another point for each additional question correct it would still put me at 50, not 51. And supposedly it goes up to 60 even if no one ever gets above 51.

Do you get points for getting correct answers very quickly? Is there any way to get above a 51? And does it even matter?

no, none of this matters. in particular, the raw score numbers mean nothing to you or any other test taker (or to any business school you apply to for that matter). the one thing you need to know though is that the amount of time you take to answer a question has no bearing on your score or what question the GMAT sends you next..
