Could anyone please help me with the answer WHY A and why Not C

In the X region of France, --wine growers still harvest grapes as they have done --for centuries, by carefully handpicking their crop and storing their fruit in specially aged casks

A) wine growers still harvest grapes as they have done
C) wine growers still harvest grapes as was done

Since the practice from the past is still cntinuing we should use present perfect tense in the sentence. This makes (A) the correct choice

(C) by using simple past makes doesn't give a sense of continuity into the present. By reading asentence constructed with choice (C) one could assume that a discontinued practice is being re-started.

In the future, please post the entire question (all choices, even if you are only questioning some of them). Also, please cite a source (author) for the question, or it must be deleted.

Besides the tense issue RA mentions, there is the voice of the verb: "growers still harvest" and "they have done" are active, but "was done" is passive.
