Equations, Inequalities, and VIC (4th edition), chap 13, #5

Equations, Inequalities, and VIC (4th edition)

Chap 13, Page 195, #5
If a=20bc, then a is what percent of b?

My question is, how to solve this problem using the "Direct Algebra" approach? (instead of using the "Pick numbers and calculate target" approach recommended in the book)

We can state "then a is what percent of b" in this way:
a = (x/100)b, or a/b = x/100

In the problem, if a = 20bc, then a/b = 20c

Putting this together, we know that x/100 = 20c, so x = 2000c.

Hope that makes sense.
