Estimated as vs. Estimated to be

by alicegmat Fri Aug 19, 2011 4:15 pm

Are both the idiomatic expressions below grammatically correct? Is any one preferred to the other?

1. The fossils are estimated as 70 years old
2. The fossils are estimated to be 70 years old

Thanks!

Hi Alisha,
This one is definitely "estimated . . . to be".
