Every vs. Each

by Guest Sat Jun 07, 2008 1:26 pm

Hi all,

I saw a definition that one should distinguish between Each and Every as below:

Each refers to '2 times', every refers to 'More than 2 times'

Does this make sense? If it does, can someone please help me understand why and how?
Thanks!

you've got it partially right: 'every' is NOT allowed to refer to only 2 things. however, the part that your source has wrong is that 'each' can refer to two OR MORE things, not just two.

try the following link for more info

(the link is british, but i don't believe there are any british/american usage differences on this particular issue)
