FANBOYS questions

by yo4561 Fri Jan 01, 2021 4:38 pm

Hi MP!

I have a question about FANBOYS. I am fully comfortable with "ANBOYS" but have yet to see the use of "comma for" connecting two independent clauses. Can you please provide an example as to how "for" would be used as a connector?

Thank you in advance :)

First, please accept our apologies for the late response. A tech glitch has hidden this folder from all logged-in Manhattan Prep staff since the New Year, so I didn’t see this question until now.

Generally "comma for" is like "comma because" or "comma since," so it tends to precede a reason.

Dina hesitated to volunteer to be chairperson, for the role required public speaking.
