few vs little

by aflaamM589 Fri Jun 03, 2016 3:52 am

Hello Ron,
Can you please tell what the difference is between few and little in following context?

students in saint Jose high school have little or no technical skills
vs
students in saint Jose high school have few or no technical skills

there is a question in official material that tests this concept.
As a non native, little also seems fine to me

Thanks

"skills" are things you can count, so, "few".

"little" is used for things that are uncountable.
uncountable things are ALWAYS singular.
so, you could say that someone has little skill in a given area. not "little skills".

also—i'll leave this discussion up, because i'm feeling generous, but...
DO NOT EVER ASK ABOUT •ANY• PIECE OF A QUESTION FROM PAID GMAC MATERIAL.
this is the most important rule on our entire forum. do not even think about posting problems (or pieces of problems) from the OG or paid question "packs".
thank you.
