Foundations of GMAT Verbal, 5th edition, Pg47, Pop Quiz

by abhishek.gupta Tue Feb 12, 2013 6:09 am

Hi,

In the sentence:
In 2034 when she is finally releasesd from prison, she will have never so much as touched a cellphone.

I understand the answer to the pop quiz question. However i have a doubt regarding the correctness of the (first part of )sentence.

Considering today is 2013 and 2034 is in future, I believe "is finally releasesd " is not the correct usage. It should be some form of future tense like "will be ".

Can you please advise on the correct usage.
regards,

1. Please be sure to post in the proper forum. This will ensure that your questions are answered as quickly as possible. I've moved your question over to the General Verbal forum.

2. The usage is correct. Using the word "when" in the future conditional allows you to place the action in the context of when that action occurred.

When I open the door, I will be surprised. (ok)
When I will open the door, I will be surprised. (no)
