Function of Indeed

by Haresh_Chimanpure Thu Dec 17, 2009 6:04 am

We Classify Moreover & Furthermore as additive phrases

And- However, yet, but - are considered to be used when expressing opposing thoughts.

Can anyone help me to Understand What a sentence that begins with "Indeed" would mean. Can we put "Indeed" in any one of above catageory ?

it's mostly used for emphasis, like "wait, i'm really going to make this point."

it's not a transition word; in most cases, you could eliminate it without much affecting the grammar of the sentence.
