Function Problem set-Page 79,MGMAT Equations book.

My Question is regarding the diffrent methods you have solved the 2 vs 4 and 5.

In qs 2
when you took the square root of (d+3)^2 you solved for two possible alternatives one where d=3 was positive and one where d+3 was negative.

In qs 4

when you solve for f(16 you got
3(16)- sq root of 16

here you did not choose two alternatives +4 and - 4,Should you pick both + and - 4 rather than only +4.

You did the same thing in qs 5 instead if taking + and - 2 as answer choice you took only +2

Thanks

If a variable is involved, then you need to look for additional cases.

I have explained this problem in the below thread.
