Gerunds

by mobenny Thu Aug 13, 2009 9:02 pm

Very confused about simple and complex Gerunds. Can you please give me a simple explanation to both? I am trying to learn more about them so that I can detect them on the test and to understand how they are used.

Thanks.

hmm. i wasn't even aware that there were things called "simple" and "complex" gerunds, so this may be one of those situations in which google is your friend.

in any case, make sure that you don't focus too much on naming things. you should just be able to recognize correct and incorrect forms, whether or not you know what they are called.
(the only real reason to know what any grammatical structure is called is so you can look up examples of it on the internet. otherwise, for the purposes of this test, linguistic names/terms are merely a distraction.)
