Is there anything about D that makes it a worthy answer choice at all? Is there anything about B that makes it not worthy? Your entire argument here seems to rest on the fact that someone with outside knowledge would be more likely to pick the correct answer. That in itself is never a reason why an otherwise correct answer choice is wrong.

And let's be honest, when you read the word Kangaroo, what country immediately popped to mind? There are some outside knowledge facts that are so universally known that the GMAT just takes it as a given that everyone will know them. I mean, if a GMAT question referred to carrots, would they have to specify that carrots are a food? Would you say the correct answer was wrong all of a sudden just because they didn't say that carrots were a food? And what if they did say that carrots were a food but they failed to mention what food is? :) I know these examples sound absurd and pedantic, but this is the kind of thing you need to think about in order to keep yourself from over-analyzing yourself out of a correct answer!

Is this problem actually from GMAT PREP?

It is mysteriously absent from the rest of the internet"”in multiple Google searches, I could not find a single other instance of it.

Do you have a screenshot?

Thanks.

Thanks for the citation.

Unfortunately, we can't quote the paid "Exam Packs" on the forum. Those are off-limits here for the same reason as the OG's—they're paid intellectual property of GMAC.

The questions from the free GMAT PREP software, on the other hand, are welcome here.
