GMAT Critical reasoning

Operations Manager: The new management here at Maximus Films cannot be held responsible for the studio’s record losses last quarter. Though the new studio heads were in place before the quarter began, none of their projects has yet reached the screen. One bit of good news, however, is that despite the overall quarterly losses, record receipts were posted by the first film released under our new chief. We’re hopeful that her magic touch will persist.

The operation manager’s reasoning is not sound because it

fails to account for a likely counter argument

introduces meaningless evidence

relies on a restatement of a premise of the argument to provide its conclusion

attempts to strengthen its conclusion by relying on an unclearly defined term

contains an apparent contradiction
