x^2+2xy+y^2= (x+y)^2
x^2-2xy+y^2 = (x-y)^2


( 1001^2 - 999^2 ) / ( 101^2 - 99^2 )
= [(1000+1)^2 - (1000 - 1)^2] / [(100+1)^2 - (100 - 1)^2]
= [(1000^2 + 2*1000*1 + 1^2) - (1000^2 - 2*1000*1 + 1^2) ] / [(100^2 + 2*100*1 + 1^2) - (100^2 - 2*100*1 + 1^2) ]
... so on
