Gmat Prep Question Pack Quant analysis

by crusade Sat Apr 13, 2013 7:07 am

Hey,

I recently bought the GMAT Prep question pack and have been using it for regular practice.

I selected a set of 30 questions for quant (15 DS and 15 PS) and got a majority of hard questions (The session was taken under timed conditions.).

My results for the session were:

Easy questions: 8/8
Medium questions: 6/8
Hard questions: 10/16

I'm aiming for a 49+ in quant, but I'm not sure what to make of this in terms of analysis. Does anybody know how this can be interpreted?

Thanks.

It means that your quant ability is probably somewhere above average. I know that's a very general and not-so-helpful answer, but the problem with this type of studying is that (assuming your timing was 2 min/problem) you were able to spend less time on easier problems and more time on the harder ones. On a true computer adaptive test, you'd have 2-3 medium questions at the beginning of the test and the rest should be somewhere around your ability level. Obviously every test situation can vary greatly, but in a perfect world, this is what you'd see.

As a complete guess, I think you're probably somewhere in the 65-85%ile ability, but again, this is a very limited resource for trying to find your GMAT score. GMAT Prep or another computer adaptive test is the only real way to answer your question.
