GMAT REVIEW SC Problem 71

by ajax Sat Apr 28, 2012 2:10 am

Need help with the below question

[deleted because problem is from a banned source - see below]

I know the answer is (C) but the explanation provided to refute the answers (A) and (E) dont seems right. I wanted to confirm my logic for not using these answers

(A) which, a noun modifier modifies exibits so it gives a sence that exhibit are activating the animated function not the touch of the people

(E) this gives the sence that when the people touch those exhibits that have the capability of activating the animated properties. Seems to suggest that not all the exhibts can activate animated function.

I think the Answer should be D:

(A) exhibit, which thereby activates -Which refers to Exhibit here and exhibit cannot activate anything
(B) exhibit, in turn an activation of - Wordy and incomplete sentence
(C) exhibit, and it will activate - It has no referent
(D) exhibit and thereby activate - Correctly implies the meaning that "Touch will activate animated functions".
(E) exhibit which, as a result, activates - Which again refers to "exhibit".

I believe the answer is D. Which is all options imply that the exhibit is activating the animated function which is false.
C- it is ambiguous. Not sure whether it points to exhibit or touch
D- touch and thereby activate.
