GMAT Score: 730 V45 (98%) Q (69%) Overall (96%)- Retake?

Hi
I was a finance major at top 50 ugrad institution graduate # 1 in my class. I am aiming to attend one of HBS, Wharton, Columbia or Yale. Do I need to retake the gmat to be competitive? Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry. Your overall score is excellent, however the quantitative percentile is a bit lower than I would like to see for the schools that you are targeting. I suggest retaking the exam and focusing on raising the quantitative percentile if you can. I’d aim for the 80th percentile or better. The score that you have right now might raise some questions for the admissions committee, which is not something that you want to do. If you are unable to increase the quantitative percentile, then I would take the opportunity to address it in the additional info/optional essays and point to your undergraduate degree and grades and perhaps your professional experience if you work in a highly quantitative role.
