guide 2, official guide problem solving list

by tom.tharakan Sat Nov 07, 2009 2:23 am

Og 12 question 200
==================
OG12 -> problem solving -> question 200

This is a question with clear reference to the concept 'percents' as mentioned in og. But this question has not been included in either the easier or tougher questions of official guide problem matrix mentioned in strategy guide fractions decimals and percents.

I think this question should be included in the official guide problem solving list of strataegy guide 2 ( fractions decimals and percents ) than in any other manhattan math strategy guide.

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the feedback. I'll bring up the issue with those who design the curriculum and produce the Strategy Guides.

Just a note: not all the OG problems are in the OG problem sets. They were selected so you can do them, review them, and master the concepts. Hope that helps.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply.
But I have one query. I went through a few manhattan guides which belong to the 4th edition. In the official problem solving list of each of these guides, it is mentioned that each of the 8 manhattan strategy guides have their own list of official guide problems and if somebody does every question given in the official guide problem lists of these guides, he/she would have completed every single question in the official guides.

But your reply was that "not all the OG problems are in the OG problem sets".
Could you please explain these two contradicting scenarios?

Hi,

Actually what's stated in the Strategy Guide should be correct: if you complete all the OG problems in the Strategy Guides, you will complete all the OG problems.

The reason why PS-200 is not in the FDP Strategy Guide is because it's better classified as an Overlapping Sets question. You'll find it in the OG Problem Set in the Word Translations Strategy Guide (4th Edition page 204).

Hope that helps.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the problem does seem to be more related to the concept of overlapping sets.
