Help me to enter MBA Program

by jonathan.hutabarat Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:44 pm

Hi,

I want to enter MBA Program in USA. I want to take major in entrepreneurship. Can you help me to give information about the ranked list of MBA Program majoring in entrepreneurship?

Can you help me to decide which is the appropriate school for me?

This is my profile:
1, I graduated from one of best university in Indonesia, majoring in accounting. My GPA 3.44/4.0
2. I have 2 years work experienced, 10 months in accounting firm (RSM International) and 14 months in stock market (Indonesia Stock Exchange)
3. My last GMAT score (already taken 3 times) is 510 (Q45, V17). I can't do well in verbal test, perhaps because english is not my mother language. Actually when I did the OG Test in paper, i can did well, but when i go through the real test everything feel worse. I can't concentrate well.

I need help so much.

Thanks.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for submitting your profile. Unfortunately, as you're aware, your GMAT score is quite low for any top universities. To give you an idea of some of the top schools in entrepreneurship -- these would be Stanford, Harvard, UC Berkeley. I'd say Columbia and Duke potentially as well, and Kellogg. But with your GMAT score, these wouldn't really be realistic targets for you. One school I'd suggest you look into is Babson, which has a very strong entrepreneurship program but is slightly less competitive in terms of admissions. Has a strong brand for entrepreneurship as well.

You might also consider whether you need an MBA to achieve your entrepreneurial goals. Depending what kind of company you want to start, you may be able to start it without that kind of investment.

Best of luck,
Mili

Thanks for your respond Mili.

I will take my fourth GMAT Exam in November. I think, I can do lot better than last test. I believe, I know the GMAT verbal test concept, but when i faced the test, I felt tired and exhausted. I can't focus on my GMAT Test. That happen in all session. In Quantitative and verbal section, I run out of time. I didn't see last 10 questions in quantitative, and around 15 questions in verbal.
I felt sick when I did the test.
Do you have suggestion for me?

Thanks

I'd say that if you've been scoring in that range for 3 exams, I don't think it is worth retaking the exam. Seems like it's just not the test for you! Maybe you should consider the GRE instead (note that not all MBA programs accept the GRE, but many do) -- some people have an easier time with the GRE vs. GMAT.

Otherwise, just try to relax and focus during the test.

Good luck,
Mili
