Idiom Question

by flysoohigh63 Wed Nov 27, 2013 4:49 am

Although some might think that classics scholars possess an entirely impractical body of knowledge, references to classical Greek and Latin are found in a wide variety of cultural mediums, from poetry to theater to dance.

A. from poetry to theater to dance
B. from poetry to theater and dance
C. in the range of poetry, theater, and dance
D. such as from poetry to theater to dance
E. such examples as poetry, theater, and dance.

I am not a native speaker of English and never met such an idiom as in case A. Is it correct one? When practicing I went with B option and found that it was wrong answer.

p.s. Source is 800score verbal practice test, is it allowed to post their examples here?

In terms of the idioms allowed in standard formal English, I agree that B is better than A.

In general, the SC problems I've seen from this source were not terribly well written. (It has been a few years since I've seen any problems from this source.)

Oops! Sorry for offtopic, but now I'm a little bit confused. Should I cease practicing their tests due to not so high quality? My current strategy was reading all MGMAT guides, intermingling this activity with solving whatever practice tests I find to show my current weaknesses. But it seems that I have to choose tests more carefully.

The vast majority of third-party practice tests are of very poor quality.

Between our tests and the GMAT Prep tests, you've already got 8 tests (plus loads of new questions if you repeat the GMAT Prep tests). That's more than any individual student should ever need.

Remember that a practice test is only good for two things:
1/ Diagnosing broad strengths and weaknesses (very broadly)
2/ Practicing timing
For #1, there's really no need to take a test more than once every 3-4 weeks. Your skill set isn't going to change faster than that, so taking tests more frequently is just a waste of your time.
For #2, you should only use whole practice tests as timing practice once your real exam is decently close. Before that time, you should just practice timing by doing practice problems under realistic timing conditions.

If you have more questions about that, you should post them in the General GMAT Strategy folder, not here.

Thanks.
