I was told that idioms are not very important in GMAT as a part of S.C .
Please let me know, how true is it ?
On the current version of the GMAT, only common idioms will be dispositive in the questions.
Some years ago, SC questions occasionally depended on more obscure idioms. However, when the GMAC people learned that people were gaining an advantage by just memorizing large numbers of idioms, they stopped doing that. (One of the main purposes of this entire exam is for memorization to be essentially useless.)
If you're doing practice problems from the blue OG verbal supplement, then you'll occasionally see instances in which relatively obscure idioms matter.
You can safely ignore these; they are a relic of the old test. (Every problem in the blue OG verbal supplement is at least eight or nine years old.)
