importance of idioms in revised GMAT?

Dear instructors,

Are idioms important in revised GMAT if yes then to what extent and Is the idioms list in MGMAT SC strategy guide enough?

I am under the impression that GMAC is not testing the idioms as it used to earlier and kind of demphasized idioms in SC.

If that is true, then how relevant are questions in GMAT prep folder (in the forum) as most of the discussions date back to circa 2007 and as plenty of questions in GMAT prep, OG and VR require the knowledge and correct usage of idioms?

Your advice will help me(and hopefully others) in big way in not wasting time where it is not relevant to GMAT.

if you need an idiom to solve a problem on your exam, it will almost certainly be a VERY basic idiom—something that would be known to anyone with even a passing knowledge of english.
e.g.,
more than (not more as)
between x and y (not between x or y)
etc.

the point is that you should not spend time studying long lists of idioms.

note the word 'need' above. that's important.
if lesser-known idioms appear in the problems, they will almost certainly be there to distract you from easier and/or more straightforward things.
