Indian Female GMAT 720 Profile Evaluation

by deepti.tripathi16 Thu Oct 10, 2013 11:58 am

GMAT -720 (Q49 V40) AWA 5.0 IR- 7.0
Female
Acads- B.tech(Mechanical and Automation Engineering)-78%,
10+2: 90%, 10th:95.4%
I have worked as a Piping Design Engineer for 22 months in a leading MNC(Oil and Gas sector).Since its not easy to switch profile and for that matter switch job at this young stage in this field but I wanted to,I left it and now voluntarily working for an NGO which is fulfilling and satisfying.I have done few online courses like Competitive Strategy from Munich School of Management
I have decent extracurriculars(team manager for events like Cricket, festivities in the company I worked,as well as at the college level),have been an academic topper throughout.
Currently I am looking at:
McCombs UT Austin
Rice University
Indiana Kelley
Tepper
Carlsen
Which among these will I have a good chance of selection provided I put up my story strongly in essays?
Which other US b-schools do you think are good with my kind of profile?

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. Your GMAT is strong, as are your academics, extracurricular activities and the volunteering. I'm not clear on your goals-- make sure you have a clear and compelling explanation in your essays as to WHY you need this MBA degree and what you plan to do with it, as well as explain what about you is unique and what you'll bring to the class.

The schools you've mentioned are likely within range, with Tepper being perhaps a bit of a reach but not impossible, and schools are always looking for qualified female applicants. You could look at others in that range such as McDonough, Fisher, Mendoza etc... just depends on what you are looking for in a school (for more on choosing schools, see our download at http://info.mbamission.com/Selecting-Yo ... ram-E-Book). Good luck and let us know what other q's you have !
