Is x negative?
If -2x>3y, is x negative?

(1) y> 0
(2) 2x+5y-20=0

Statement1 implies that x is negative. The correct anser is A.

Statemaent 2 does not give a definitive anaswer.

I think it's C:
In regards to statement 2's sufficiency, I worked it this way:
2x+5y-20=0
y = (20-2x)/5
Plug this value into the inequality presented in the question stem to arrive at:
-2x > 3((20-2x)/5)
-2x>(60-6x)/5
-10x>60-6x
-4x>60 (so, x could only be negative for this to hold true).

Yep - D.

-2x > 3y

(1) y > 0
Look at the original equation. if y > 0, then the right side is positive. The left side (-2x) is greater than the positive right side, so the left side must also be positive. x must therefore be negative to make the left side positive. Sufficient. Elim B, C, E.

(2) 2x+5y-20=0 see Greg's computation above.
