Any of these could be acceptable depending on the context.

well, not #3.

if you want to use 'in isolation', then you have to use it ... in isolation. (:

you can be...
...isolated,
...isolated from xxxx,
...in isolation.

Good point, Ron. "In isolation" implies isolation from everything (since that's the definition of "isolation"), so "in isolation from..." would be redundant. Thanks for catching that!

Dear instructors,

Can you give some examples so that usage of in isolation gets more clear?

Thanks

Particularly notorious prisoners are often kept in isolation, to prevent violent altercations with other inmates.

Each of these facts is meaningless in isolation, but, taken together, they reveal several startling patterns.

Thanks for the examples Ron,

The difference has been assimilated thoroughly.

But is it true that if i ever have to consider this kind of an idiom on test day, there will something much more significant wrong in the answer choices that needs to be considered first than this kind of an idiom ?

yes, that should happen.
