Joe, who hasn’t showered in days

by vikram4689 Mon Feb 28, 2011 2:08 pm

SC Flas Cards say following sentence is correct

Joe, who hasn’t showered in days, smells bad"”however, John, who is suffering from nasal congestion, smells so badly that Joe’s odor doesn’t bother him at all.

But i think, him has no clear antecedent

"Him" is a singular object pronoun which has 2 antecedents - Joe / John

sorry, you need to stop looking for pronoun ambiguity when it isn't there. if one option for the antecedent doesn't make sense, you can't use it..
