by sanjaylakhani Sun Sep 21, 2008 7:52 am

Like the power-generating apparatus of a
conventional car, that of a hybrid car
depends on
a combustible fuel to generate
power.

A. that of a hybrid car depends on
B. hybrid cars depend on
C. hybrid cars’ power-generating apparati are
dependent on
D. that of a hybrid car’s is dependent on
E. that of hybrid cars depend onincome as business revenue.

OA- A

Can anyone pls explain as to why C is wrong? is it beacuse of plural- apparati- that violates parallelism

Pls also comment n use of LIKE-

yes you are right, C is wrong because apparati is plural while in the first sentence apparatus is singular. Two statements being compared with like should be parallel.

I havent seen many SC's with similar construction.

Why do that refers to the P G A of H C?

That could be easily anything. Is it because of the parallelism that refers to the P G A of H C.
