low quant score

by ankita21cen Thu Jun 27, 2013 8:07 pm

i really need your advice.

i have given gmat twice

aug 2011 total 660 81% Q 47 76% V 34 68% aa 5.5
april 2012 total 720 94% Q 47 76% V 42 95% aa 4.5

i was initially very happy about crossing the 700 mark but i am really worried about my low and stagnant quant percentile.

i m from business background and have done really well in finance and statistics in my coursework(will this help?) I aim to do phd in marketing (though not in quantitative marketing but behavioral) How badly will it affect my chances since i have heard phd admission committee gives lot of significance to quantitative abilities.

Should i retake the test ?

please help

Hi Ankita,

Congrats on your increase in overall score, and a 720 is a strong score for many PhD programs (you'll need to research the particular programs/schools you are interested in for more info). Yes there are other ways you can support the fact that you have strong quantitative ability, including your coursework and professional experiences, so that should complement your GMAT as well.

Let us know if you have other q's and good luck on your applications!
